Bellingua Language School: German courses in Zurich for fast-learning, motivated adults
Bellingua is a unique language school right in the heart of Zurich’s business district. Since its foundation in 2002, it has focussed on teaching German as a Foreign Language to fast-learning adults. We use hybrid teaching in our german courses: Students can come to the classroom in Zurich or they can join via video link.

Competent teachers
All teachers are native speakers and have a degree in German Studies, Translation/Interpreting or German as a Foreign Language (or are about to graduate).
In addition, all teachers receive internal training and intensive professional guidance. This makes them well acquainted with our curriculum, our teaching materials, and our teaching methodology.
Small, homogeneous groups
Classes in our German language school are held in small groups of 1 to 9 students.
The maximum group size is guaranteed by contract.
Thanks to careful placement tests and ongoing assessments, all course participants are at the same level.
Structured and meticulous
Lessons at Bellingua follow a fixed curriculum that focuses equally on all language skills – reading, writing, listening, speaking.
The lessons are geared towards a precise use of the German language in spoken and written form. Based on a solid understanding of grammar, we offer a wide range of interactive exercises, speaking practice, writing exercises and digital exercises with proof correction.
Hybrid teaching
All courses take place in a hybrid format. Participants can attend either in person or remotely from home.
All participants (in person and online) need their own device such as a tablet or laptop, as well as headphones (Tablet: Minimum size 8 inches, at least iOS 9 or Android 6.0).
Interactive course material
We use largely digital course materials in class.
Interactive exercises specifically created for our courses on the learning platform edulo are used in class and for homework. For collaboration and note-taking by teachers, Miro is used during classes.
Regular assessments
Regular written and oral assessments guarantee homogeneous groups. Students must achieve adequate test results in order to continue the course.
Goethe certificate guaranteed
Thanks to competent teachers and a prescribed curriculum, we guarantee the passing of Goethe and telc certificate examinations.
This guarantee applies to all those who successfully complete a corresponding level course with us (i.e. the level mark is at least 4.0, see assessments) and take the certificate examination within 4 months of completing the course.
Courses are guaranteed to take place
Our courses will be provided even if only one person has signed up to attend.
If there are three or fewer than three people in the course, the number of lessons per week will be reduced slightly, but not the content of the course.
Detailed placement test
All students with previous knowledge of the German language take a detailed placement test (written and oral).
This detailed and free placement test helps us assess your level so we can find the right level and course for you.
Our courses are designed for students who do not show any major differences between their oral and written skills.
Flexible course length and contracts
The student decides how long to book a course for.
Our terminable contracts allow flexibility and guarantee motivated course participants. Courses can be cancelled per Friday with a cancellation period of only one week.
Trial week
New students can get to know Bellingua without risk. Instead of a trial lesson, at Bellingua, one can attend a full course module on a trial basis (one week in the intensive course, two weeks in the semi-intensive course).
If a student decides to stop the course, we will refund the entire course fee.
